A Smile costs nothing, but gives much.
It enriches those who receive, without making poorer those who give.
It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever.
None is so rich or mighty that he can get along without it,
and none is so poor, but that he can be made rich by it.
A Smile creates happiness in the home, fosters good will in business,
and is the countersign of friendship.
It brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad,
and it is nature's best antidote for trouble.
Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen,
for it is something that is of no value to anyone, until it is given away.
Some people are too tired to give you a smile;
Give them one of yours, as none needs a smile so much as he who has no more to give.

Adam and I were at Sam's today replenishing the diaper, TP, and pickle supplies. It is such a mad house at the Sam's we go to what with all of the desperate housewives running around there and their kids running a muck (not really doggin as I am a part-time DH and my sis is a full timer) and they only ever have 2 lanes open at any given time.
We were the 3rd in line after about a 20 minute wait and a woman in a wheelchair wheeled up to the register next to us where 3 workers were chatting. None of them looked at her to even acknowledge her presence. I saw in her basket she only had 2 things. Adam and I let her go in front of us, much to the dismay of those patrons behind us. What do I care, I wore tennis shoes and sweats and was quite comfy waiting in line, not my fault the women behind me raise heathens and wear 5 inch heels to Sam's.
Anywho, we were in line for another twenty minutes and chatted with the woman, Adam had so much to say to her and she to him. As she was wheeling away with her purchase she let me know that that small act of kindness and the sweet little boy with the most wonderful smile had made her day.
And that in return had made mine!
