Bigg Time had his 18 month well baby visit this past week. He is a whopping 27.4 lbs (70%) and 35 in long (99.9%). Big man passed the inspection with flying colors and then some as Dr. Smith was going on and on about his ability to do puzzles at an exceptional level. He is now doing puzzles marked for 3 years and up. She says it is time for Mommy to let go a little and take him to a Mom's Day Out or Preschool for a few hours a week. The reasoning behind this is so that he will be a well rounded boy genius and not just a genius! Huh, Mom told her that wouldn't work because she can't go to those places too. Doc said that was the point and left it at that... Doctors don't know everything, right?
Adam loves to color and read, and watch movies! His favorite right now is Monsters Inc, but I am sure that will change when he sees what the Easter Bunny has brought him.
His vocabulary is growing by leaps and bounds as he is now trying to put words together. He starts most sentences with "Ma" and I can decipher quite a bit more of the gibberish than I could a week ago.
He can now point to most of the obvious body parts when we say them and can say a few of them himself. He knows too many animal sounds to mention and will point to the animals in a book. He loves to "choo choo" for the train and "we-o we-o" for the ambulance. I think his favorite part of that game is Daddy making the sounds too! MY favorite is when Daddy asks Biggs where is muscles are, and he grrrs and shows his guns.
He uses a fork or a spoon at every meal. And he pushes his chair out when he is hungry.
He likes to walk in the grocery store or sit in the basket part of the cart. He throws a fit when he sees something he wants, and pouts when he doesn't get it. (Not sure where he gets that)
He loves his family and that includes his animals. He will often stand at the back door or window crying when PJ or Norie go out. He is super friendly and will give hugs to just about anyone who wants one, usually after only about 2 minutes of sizing them up. He loves to play with other kids and it is so fun to see him interact with kids his age as it seems they really know what the other is saying.
We are debating on when to turn the crib into a toddler bed. Thinking it will be soon since he is so tall. Will have to keep you all posted on that progress!
We are so extremely proud of our son and all that he has grow to be in these last 18 months. This was a hard milestone for us to come to as he is one of the most independent children and is needing us less and less. It is going to be hard to give him that freedom and let go a little, but we will do it like most parents do.
But, one thing will never change...he will always be our baby!
