Jace Is 9 Months Old!

Our Jace Broday is 9 months old! It's hard to believe that we have only had him that long, it seems like he has always been with us. He is such a joy, this one. Always smiling! In fact, one of his nicknames IS Happy. Along with Jacer, Jacer Brody, JB, and Big Baby. Adam and Dad also call him Bacon Butt but I will get into that more in Adam's 3 year post.

Jace has grown quite a bit over the last 3 months. He is now 22.3 lbs (86%) and 29.5 in (87%). He is now wearing 12-18 month clothes, depending on the brand. And has transitioned to table foods with flying colors! Yay! No more baby food jars all over. You know that will cut our trips to the recycling center in half!

Jace is crawling everywhere as you have seen in several previous posts. Once he got the hang of it, he took right off. Pulling up has been a challenge on the hardwoods, but as long as he is barefoot and his pants aren't in his way he does great! He loves to follow Adam around, heck, he loves to follow ANYONE around. He is quite nosey like his big brother, but as Adam has turned quite shy, Jace is absolutely not! He is starting to have some separation anxiety, but if someone with a smile on their face has him, he doesn't stay upset long.

Big Baby is quite into the animals these days. When he spots one of them he makes a B-line towards the poor unsuspecting creatures. The puppy doesn't care, but he also has no "filter". He still doesn't know how to be gentle with Jacer so we have to watch that. He can't catch Duke or Karen, they see him look their way and they are gone. PJ seems to be the best out of all of them and he will let JB do pretty much whatever he wants to him. This cat has been with me for 9 years, sad will be the day he goes to be with God. JB loves balls; any size, any shape. He will sit and listen to a book being read, but with THIS Haselby, you better keep it interesting. He won't sit too long. He plays so well with other kids, but like with all babies, sharing is not something he practices! Jacer loves to get into the tubberware and pots and pans cabinets. He will sit for a good hour with all of the different pieces, banging and tapping with a spoon. Some Mama's can't stand this, and while I am a huge germaphobe and hate doing dishes, I will do the extras if my boys are having fun. My Mama let us kids play with pretty much whatever we wanted, therefore my boys can explore and play as well.

Jacer is constantly babbling. High pitched, low pitched, shrieks (hate that one), growls. Sometimes sounds like words, sometimes sounds like singing. Two things you can always hear; Mama and Dada. He also shakes his head no no, throws his hands up for a touchdown, and if you take his lovie away and cuddle it yourself he gets very mad and reciprocates. Very cute.

JB has 4 teeth. 2 on top and 2 on bottom. He has recently started grinding those teeth, and if you have ever heard that constant grating you know it is almost stomach turning. Most everything still goes to his mouth, but he isn't the drooler that big brother was, thankfully!

This child is obsessed with the curtains! After a 1,000 times of hitting the wall behind the curtains, he still hasn't realized he needs to stop! He loves peek-a-boo and the curtains are the best place for that. He likes to be the center of attention and if we are holding him and looking the opposite way he will try to get in our point of view so your attention is on him. Very cute, very hard to concentrate!

So at 9 months this little "Big Baby" has quite the personality! Well, did we expect anything different? What fun we are having with him as we forgot how great it is to see such amazement and wonder on little faces when experiencing things for the first time. This year of firsts is going fast and we are, as always, trying to hold onto these baby days for dear life. While he still wants me to, I will rock him every night, sing silly songs and dance around like a lunatic, I will hold his bottle when he tires of it, and I will lug him around on my hip all day long. I will do all of these things and more because I know that all too soon he will trade these wonderful things for other big boy demands and I am just not ready for that!
