We Took A Hike

On Cory's last day we decided to take advantage of the weather and head out on a little family hike. It was beautiful, enjoyable, and very memorable. Although for Cory I am sure it was memorable because he was with us, not because France Park compares to all of the places he has visited on his many adventures. It was great for all none the less. We packed up the kids and hit the trails.

Thanks goodness for this stroller! It went off road like no other and that made it extremely nice when we were going up the side of the old quarry. Adam took his spot on Cory's shoulders and I brought up the rear.

Jace was such a trooper as usual. He got out several times, although not here as we were up on a cliff. Loving the fact that these guys love to be outdoors as much as we do, but they get pretty mad when they can't get down and explore properly!

Adam cooperated for our family photo ops throughout most of the day. It was nice to have Cory there for many reasons, including me not having to mess with the timer on the camera! He's quite handy!

Biggs had a ball as usual when we are outside. We looked for cool rocks to show Grammy, neat sticks, and unique bugs. We tried as hard a we could to catch a little tree frog. Actually the frog ended up "catching" Cory as he jumped on his leg and hung out there for a bit.

Dad told Adam he needed a walking stick. Adam found a really great one and we all teased Dad that he would need a pretty strong one to hold him up. He found this one...more like a walking log than a stick!

The boys took a break while we looked at a map. We walked as far a we could around the quarry then went off the find the waterfall.

I am coming to terms with the fact that the above picture is probably going to be what most of my photos will look like for the next several years. Boys looking around at everything but the camera, pushing and twisting to get down and away from me. It's OK. I have decided I am going to cherish them all the same!

How lucky these boys are to have such a hands on Daddy. I know guys like him are a rarity these days, and we are so happy to have him.

The attention span of this kid amazes me. While many 3 year olds bounce from activity to activity Adam is quite the exception. He will stick with one thing for an extended amount of time. I was truly excited to see him leaning up against these rocks just watching the water crashing into the pool below.

The boys had a great weekend catching up, and Cory and I got to catch up a bit too. We always like to hear about what he is doing in his life as many times it sounds quite a bit more exciting than ours. We wouldn't trade these days together with our boys for our single days though. Even though we both get a night off once in awhile, we are way over those single days!

At first glance we though these were rocks as we quickly past by. At second glance we realized they are mushrooms! Very cool, kind of creepy. Fungus should never grow that big here in Indiana!
