Adam Turns 2

Getting acquainted with the T-Rex cookie cutter. Any T-Rex is nicknamed Rexy.

Adam, Grammy, and I made about 1,000 dino and chocolate chip cookies for the party. It is such hard work baking that amount, but well worth it to see everyone enjoying the fruits of your labor! As usual Bud was a huge help, he loves to do things like this, all by himself.

Mama didn't really read the dimensions of this big Rexy when ordering him for the party. When Dad and Adam blew him up and brought him upstairs to see Mommy we all had a good laugh. He doesn't fit through a normal sized doorway without a LOT of help!

Last year before his 1 year party, we gave Adam his gifts from us. 1. So he knew they were from us and 2. So he wouldn't be so overwhelmed. We decided to do the same this year and from now on so that we can actually see him open them and enjoy it!

Adam's big gift this year was this barn from the John Deere catalog. It is so cute to see Adam with that catalog and picking out things he likes and wants. It definitely brought back memories for Brock and I as we used to do the same when we were kids. Although, Brocky has caught me doing it still to this day. Old habits die hard!

At first, Bud was upset about ripping the Toy Story wrapping paper. We had to get it started so that he would be more interested in the box it was covering. It didn't take long!

Adam LOVED the wrapping paper Aunt Car used. Turns out the Haselbys used the same paper! When he finally saw the corner of the picture of his very own table and chairs from the Heplers, he had no problem tearing the paper off! The cake traveled 2 hours from Indy! Thanks Aunt Car! We LOVE these cakes, they are worth the wait!

Bud's party was at the City Park this year. It was a beautiful day with tons of sun and beautiful people! Thanks so much for everyone that could make it.

This year has flown by! We have had such a blast watching Adam this past year grow into such a smart, curious, funny, and very sweet little boy.
There is nothing this child won't repeat and he has taken to calling his Dad, Brock. While this is extremely cute, we have had a hard time of stopping it as he is very strong willed. I especially thought it hilarious, that is until Adam started calling me Ninny. Which is what my Lainey calls me, Aunt Ninny. Not so funny anymore.
Adam LOVES to talk. This has not changed from last years report except for the fact that we can now understand him! And he is now getting into the shy stage, but only for the first 2 min of seeing a new face, then he is his talkactive self. He has started singing and knows the songs to the Wonder Pets, Diego, and Micky Mouse Club House, 3 of his faves.
He now can count to 10 without help and can even count backwards: 3,2,1 blastoff! He can recognize the letters A, B, and C and the colors green, black, red, orange, and yellow. Green because his tractors are green, black because our cat PJ is black, red because his apple is red, and I am not sure where orange and yellow came from! He knows his shapes and left from right, although not that they are directions. Just right from left hand/foot.
Adam loves to color and draw. As well as name things for us to draw. Brock and I have become quite the artists, getting really good at farm animals. Bud's love for the four legged has got ten stronger, and is now very into barns and the animals that go in them. He is forever looking for barns as we drive in the counrty and since harvest has began our drives have turned from looking for barns and animals to looking for tractors. He sits in his seat and calls, "tractor where are you?"
His favorite indoor passtime is still reading. And we have a reached a point where he will sit and read the stories to us. Even though only half of what he is saying is understandable to us, I have no doubt that he knows exactly what he is saying!
As you know we are expecting baby Jace here in a few months. We started early on in the pregnancy trying to Adam amped up for the new arrival. He has taken to lifting my shirt and talking or singing to the baby like he sees Daddy do so often. He has started to want to share his things with Jace as well. Mainly his food and drink, but every so often he will lay a toy on my belly. I have no doubt in my mind that Adam will be a great big brother and love Jace very much. I also have no illusions as to how the first few months will go, and I am quite certain that my little Mama's boy will have a hard time with this transition no matter how excited or prepared he may be. We'll keep you posted on this, and prayers for a smooth transition are greatly apprecitated!
We feel very grateful for the son we were blessed with. Adam is an amazing little man and is very loved by so many people. In return, the amount of love he shows those in his life is immense. For such a little person, he has a lot of love to give. He is rarely stingy with the hugs and kisses, alls you have to do is point to your cheek!
Mama and Daddy look forward to all of the things we are in store for this coming year.
Happy Birthday, Adam!
